About this course

This course presents Chinese Medicine Psychology (Acupuncture) from a classical and modern point of view and looks at the real meaning of «calming the shen». It is a complete and in-depth look at psycho-emotional and spiritual disorders and how to achieve massive breakthroughs with patients as well as personal cultivation as a practitioner.

This course presents a detailed discussion of the following topics

  • The concepts of Shen (spirit), Ling (soul) and the Five Spirits and their expression as physiological and pathological behaviours in Chinese medicine
  • An understanding of emotional trauma from a TCM and Daoist approach
  • An introduction of the 8 Extraordinary Vessels and their impact on the body and constitution from birth and throughout the 7/8 year cycles
  • Tongue diagnosis in mental health conditions
  • The pathology and treatment with acupuncture of Anxiety, Depression, Grief, Anger and Fear
  • Scalp Acupuncture for Anxiety, Depression, PTSD
  • A study of TOP acupuncture points for mental health conditions (including Tung Points and Japanese Acupuncture Protocols)

Course objectives:

  • To approach emotional disharmonies and trauma from an integrative point of view when working with patients.
  • To introduce the domain of mental health from a Chinese Medicine framework (both Classical as well as Traditional Chinese Medicine).
  • To distinguish how the Five Spirits are affected by emotions and what the presenting behaviours are.
  • To identify and understand the root of long-term trauma using the 8 Extraordinary Vessels.
  • To develop the ability to diagnosis, evaluate and suggest acupuncture treatments for emotional coditions

Sohial Farzam is an Australian registered Acupuncturist and has been practicing for 20 years. He was also a long-term lecturer at the Endeavour College of Natural Health (formally known as the Australian College of Natural Medicine) in Melbourne Australia for 14 years. Recently he has paused teaching at the college only to expand his teaching publicly, both domestic and internationally.

Sohial’s main area of speciality is in Psycho-Emotional imbalances and emotional empowerment. He is a well-known practicing acupuncturist in Australia where he practices as an Emotional Wellbeing Acupuncturist in a multi-modality health centre. He currently presents many seminars on psychological and mental health conditions around Australia, New Zealand and Europe and hosts many industry speakers.

Sohial has recently founded the “International Integrative Mental Health Conference – A Chinese Medicine based Event”. This is the first of its kind conference in the world solely focused on Mental Health. The conference hosts some of the greatest speakers and clinicians around the world.

Sohial has a special interest in Daoist philosophy of Chinese Medicine, integration of classical and modern Chinese Medicine, psychology, human behaviour, neuroscience and quantum physics. He integrates all these study angles into the Chinese Medicine framework to fully understand the dynamics of the psyche.

Sohial has also completed further qualifications completing internships in China. He has 2 certifications in clinical studies working in Liaoning Hospital of TCM in the area of neurology, eye microsystem and advanced acupuncture as well as certifications in Beijing in specialised Acupuncture and Abdominal Acupuncture protocols. Sohial also founded and is the owner of one of the quickest growing Acupuncture and Chinese medicine supplies wholesaler called NeedlePro Australia.
